i think the best thing about being in a proper class is that you get to test what you have learnt against people of different size/strength.

post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are.

I'd drive as far as I needed. Is there a local university or something? sometimes colleges offer classes. I mean, one of my senseis lives in NH and drives all the way to around boston where my dojo is. Every day. to teach. She also teaches a shotokan class at UNH cause she knew more than the instructers there. Check around. Try to find a sensei even if u can;t find a dojo. I mean, ask around. Not all martial artists and dojos r listed. I dunno. I'd prefer to drive over an hour to get to class rather than buy a tape. I mean, nothing beats the atmosphere. Plus, what about sparring?

Every possible avenue should be investigated for getting live training.

 

That said, I agree the a tape is better than nothing. As soon as you can drive yourself, drop the tapes and get a dojo.
