Drunken Monkey Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 i think the best thing about being in a proper class is that you get to test what you have learnt against people of different size/strength. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
RagingNinja Posted August 6, 2003 Author Posted August 6, 2003 I think I will take your advice and find myself a school. _______________________________________"Do or do not, there is no try"- Yoda
DeeLovesKarate Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 I'd drive as far as I needed. Is there a local university or something? sometimes colleges offer classes. I mean, one of my senseis lives in NH and drives all the way to around boston where my dojo is. Every day. to teach. She also teaches a shotokan class at UNH cause she knew more than the instructers there. Check around. Try to find a sensei even if u can;t find a dojo. I mean, ask around. Not all martial artists and dojos r listed. I dunno. I'd prefer to drive over an hour to get to class rather than buy a tape. I mean, nothing beats the atmosphere. Plus, what about sparring? GrrrArg Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Also bear in mind that atape would be better than a McDojo.
SBN Doug Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 Every possible avenue should be investigated for getting live training. That said, I agree the a tape is better than nothing. As soon as you can drive yourself, drop the tapes and get a dojo. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
