spin_kick
this happened to me last friday i was at our tournament training class and we were doing basic point sparring drills. one person held a kick shield while the other skipped forward with a fast reverse punch then retreated. anyways, i skipped forward but i landed on the point of my big toe, right in the join between two mats. the rubber held my toe firmly in place while my whole body momentum kept going forward. the result: a compound dislocation of the middle joint in the toe and a transverse laceration running from the top of the toe, round the inside (i.e. between the big toe and the second toe) to the bottom. basically if you looked at the foot from the top the big toe pointed 45 degrees away from the rest of the foot, leaving the bone exposed. it looked really cool. it was such a freak accident. i mean, what are the chances of that happening? especially when its a week before the biggest tournament of the year, and six weeks before nationals (i am ranked first in my state for my division), so now i cant compete. by the way, i took a pic of it with my fone right after it happened. if anyone's interested in seeing it i'll post it when i can figure out how too.... aes
I missed that this injury did not have to happen in MA. Then this by far was the most painful. In my mid teens I was horsing around with some friends and in trying to get out of the reach of a guy that was trying to grab me I turned and ran just as I noticed a fire hydrant, so I tried to leap frog over it and did not make it. The point on the top connected with my private area dead on with my full weight coming down. It was 20 minutes before I could get off the ground. I honestly felt like I would rather have been shot and put out of my misery. Yes I was still able to have kids when I grew up. 43 Years oldBlue Belt (7th Kyu) Shorin-ryuRoberts Karate
Jinxx0r
my most painful injury was torn ligaments in my back. Don't even know what I did to cause it. Took me over a year to finally heal properly (to where I only get stiff instead of excrutiating pain). Basically couldn't twist or jump during this time. It still bothers me to this day and may never be the same, but usually takes about 2 hours of working out/practicing before it really starts to get stiff. Back injury/pain is the worst... that and it never seems to be the same again. "In the beginner's mind there are many possibilites, but in the expert's there are few."
