I'd like to get your thoughts on these new energy drinks. I've tried them out lately when I was planning a long and hard training session and they seemed to work pretty well. Have any of you tried them? Do any of you know of any bad effects? I don't like to artificially jump my metabolism to train all the time. But when I've had a hard day at work and plan to double up training, these things really help. What do you think?

not sure if they work or if it was just a placebo thing but i once tanked up on about six of them (redbull) whilst trying to get some work done for a presentaion the next day.

it was probably just the sugar.

Could you give us a description? Are they the ones with glucose in?

We have drinks which claim to give you energy, but to be honest with you

I think they are a waste of money. I know marathon runners sometimes

drink that type of thing, because it allows them to take sustenance without

stopping. Cyclists, too. But most people don't train anywhere near long

enough to need them. Also, in martial arts, you tend to stop and start.

Even if you were working constantly for a long time, you'd be better off

eating a banana or a cereal bar--something light. They will also provide

nutrients, rather than just energy.

I imagine manufacturers observed the desire for fitness and wanted to

make money out of it. If you like them, great, but I believe you should

be able to get all your energy needs from your meals, with the odd piece

of fruit, etc. used as a top-up.

I think Redbull has alot of caffeine in it, so you probably were a bit wired!

Caffeine, Ephedrine, B complex, sugar, etc, the drinks are full of good things like that. They boost your energy, but only for a short time, then you crash. I’d advise a good multivitamin and some fruit. That should boost your energy levels, with no side-effects.

a few of my friends drink them and i think they are ok every once in a while, but not very good on a regular basis. also, if you mix them they will make you sick!

I've never had redbull. Do they make you have mad energy? For how long?

I tried Red Bull once. It had me wired for quite a while. I pretty much stay with the Sobe when I use them now. They are more mellow, but still give you a boost.

For me i just drink water, gatorade, and Sobe. I've heard that you do need to watch out though for energy drinks because they can cause you to pass-out if cosumed too much.

Sobe is GREAT tasting (Dragon fruit rules), but it is mostly sugar, the amount of herbs and such in it aren’t nearly enough hot do much good. The Snapple Drinks, I forget what they are called, they are much better for you, and give you a better lift.

Am I the only one here that DOESNT feel anything from these energy drinks?? Ive tried things like Sobe, Amp, Red Bull, and Snapple, but havent recieved any kind of 'lift' or 'boost' in energy... I just drink them for the taste. Maybe it they run along the same lines as other caffeine-products with me... no effect. But that doesnt explain things like sobe.

Patience is a grand- either you can learn it or I can make you learn it.
