Breakdancer Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 No i still dont think tyson wont stand a chance, he doesn't know how to grab kicks and esspecially lets say a thai boxer throws a round house to the knees, also mike tyson all punches, how the hell is he suppose to fight when hes getting his * kicked literally, he woudn't gain enough distance to land a punch.
Tibby Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 Here are a good wrapping site: http://www.boxinggyms.com/tips/handwraps.htm I noticed you listed more Bicep exercises then anything, and you didn't list any back exercises. The Biceps are mostly just for Uppercuts. You will be using your Triceps a lot more, witth jabs and crosses. ANd about making you muscle stiff and slow, it is a myth. Just work it normally, about 8-12 reps, enoug hweight so that you CAN'T Explode. Explosive movement can be a wase of time. Do your bench press with an explosive movement, and keep you palms open, the bar will shoot right out of your hand. The only work you get is from lthe first few seconds you push up, the rest of the lift is carried by your force from the take off. Matt Furey does have some good stuff, check it out. About Tyson, in is day, he was fast and mean. He would get inside, to close to do much of naything but a few knees, and hammer away. The Thai boxer wouldn't stand a chance. But lately, he has had trouble with those tall guys, so with a few kicks, he would get owned if we are talking abotu him NOW
Radok Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 I just found this old thread, and I think Mantra locust still posts here, so I figured I'd ask if he really persued prize fighting? If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
Tibby Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Are you sure he is still here? His post count is 6, and half of those are in this thread. If he is, I'd like to know, too. But I think he left about getting the info he needed.
Mantra Locust Posted October 1, 2003 Author Posted October 1, 2003 Yeah, I'm still here. Unfortunatly I didn't get to persue prize fighting, because it's very difficult to find a trainer here, and the ones that are here charge outragious prices. Though I did take up Tae Kwon Do again, two weeks ago. I go to a new school, and it's great. I'm not sure if you can really pursue a career in TKD unless you own a school, correct me if I'm wrong. But I do plan to join every tournament I can and try to become the best TKD practioner I can be.
Darce Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 Good Luck! Shukokai Karate, Orange belt ( 7. kyu)
Tibby Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 You're right about TKD. But try for Kick Boxing. That should be fun at least.
Mantra Locust Posted October 1, 2003 Author Posted October 1, 2003 Unfortunatly there isn't a Muay Thai school here any more, all we have now is Cardio Kick boxing.
Mantra Locust Posted October 6, 2003 Author Posted October 6, 2003 I live in a medium sized town with a population of about 35,000 people (:
