Well my first kata was Aoynagi, I learned it as a white belt! However I wasn't expected to memorize it or perfect it of course. Aoynagi is really cool especially the the one legged attack to the throat part( I think thats what its trying to portray)

Oh and isn't H-Form 1 from taekwondo exactly the same as Kihon-Kata Ichi? I remember from my taekwondo days it was downblock, punch, repeat 3 punches, downblock punch then the whole thing over.( exactly what kihon kata ichi is)

My first one was... well... Short-Form 1, also very Korean sounding.

I learned Kicho 1-3 (in TSD). It's the same as the Taikyoku, just different name. Monkey girl, I think you are referring to the Kicho forms as well.

I feel so uncreative... my first kata is called "First Form". we just go around with a bunch of punches and lower blocks and kiai a time or two.

Kihon kata (also known as Taikyoku Shodan).
