isshinjake
hello everyone I've been sparring for awhile and i can perform most of my moves the right way. My problem is that im not very good at anticipating on what my partner will do next. My reflexes and very good! Is there any thing i can do to try and get faster reflexes? All things begin with one "Tatsuo Shimabuku"My Dojo, The only Isshinryu dojo in Arkansas that I know of. http://www.geocities.com/isshinchris/
IAMA_chick
try getting a partner and have them stand opposite of you. both of you put your right foot back and when your partner steps back then you kick him/her. do this down and back after/before class or whenever. when you get the hang of it then add different things like have them slide back instead of step and then you do a switch then roundhouse or something. it might work!? G95champ
Just keep training. The more you do something the more natural it becomes for you. I tell my students to forget about what their eyes tell them and just feel the next attack. Yeah I know that sounds pretty far out but I think most will agree they do this. (General George S. RedDragon
Just keep training. The more you do something the more natural it becomes for you. I have to agree... the more you train, the faster you become. Also, if you have any friends in the MA's, spar against them, try to spar with as many different people as you can, because sparring with the same people over and over will not progress your skills as much, you become to familiar with the techniques that they will use. Looneyas
Reflexes there is a part of training that only time will help you with, Im extremly fast and that has nothing to do with reflexes. I focus on there shoulders as all movements come from shoulders, but each to there own. Solo
These are great suggestions from all of you. Say you didn't have a partner when training, at home let's say, would Shadow Boxing work? Of course you could never block one of your own strikes lol But would this kind of quicken your reflexes? Drunken Monkey
it would speed up what you do but not speed up your relexes. for that you really do need something to respond to. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
