NFleischman Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 Hey guys Started Karate around 2 months ago and during warmups i have been doing my butterfly stretch quite lightly. This is the first time i have truly stretched in around 5 years. However even when I do a light butterfly the muscle area close to the groin area on my left leg has a very strange pain. I do not get this in my right leg. In my right leg I feel the normal burn/stretching sensation but in the other leg it is a strange pain in a focused/isolated area inside the muscle. I have just started to do intense butterflys today, but I remember this happening even years ago when I did stretch. I'm gonna keep doing intense butterfly for around a week and see if it dies off. Any ideas i'd love. Thanks Shito-Ryu Karate 3 Months Active Training
newbalance Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 No advice, but Ill say that I get a strange pain when I do splits underneath my right shin. I dont know what it is, but I know that it hurts, and it isnt going away. I guess God didnt make me perfect. Darn.
ZR440 Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 You might be stretching too much in too quick a time. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
Seraph Posted July 19, 2003 Posted July 19, 2003 Butterfly stretch? You mean like where you sit and press your feet together and move your legs up and down? An old gym teacher told me not to do those because they actually can tear muscle!! Be careful and look it up - I could be wrong but it'd be the devil to get started in an MA and then seriously hurt yourself soon after.
Thuggish Posted July 23, 2003 Posted July 23, 2003 might have slightly pulled or hurt something- be careful and go easy on it. best to start too slow rather than too fast. a broken arm throws no punches
