honour is life Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 fear doesnt equal respect you may freely give up your life, but never lose your honour
Menjo Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 sometimes fear can creat a false image of someone else which possibly might lead to respect...... "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
honour is life Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 but is it true respect if it is based on a falce belief, or is that meerly someone judging you for something you are not?saying that, as long as you have got respect, do you care what it is for? you may freely give up your life, but never lose your honour
Menjo Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I would care what it is for because i wouldn't want someone to think im something that im not, but any respect can be true respect since people only really judge you by what you do..(or how you do it) "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
honour is life Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 sorry, playing devils advocate here.. so if you got an award for saving someones life, when infact you didnt, pleople would respect you for the award, even though you didnt deserve it.is that true respect? you may freely give up your life, but never lose your honour
Menjo Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 if they actually thought you did save the person they wouldn't know the diff "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
honour is life Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 yes, but is that true respect? you may freely give up your life, but never lose your honour
Anbu Alex Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Well most ppl i tell dont really fear me thay r like "wow thats kool man i wish i could take up martial arts" I thnk some ppl are scared because of thinking i love beating ppl up for no reason (ufc syn drome) and yes fear does = respect because that person acknolowges your capabilities White belt for life"Destroy the enemies power but leave his life"
Menjo Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 yes, but is that true respect? To be honest respect is relative really, i dont think there is true respect only respect and if someone respects you it doesnt matter if your a fake...they respect you and thats the only thing that matters, not what you do in the situation but how they think. For example if someone thought one guy swam 200km....(i know but just listen) but the truth is he didnt swim 200km and lied...that someone who "respects" him thinks he did and thus respects him, is it true respect though? There is nothing that really defines any ways of thinking(physicly) so it all depends on the person "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
CA-Isshinryu Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Respect for oneself if the most important kind. If you respect yourself then you can respect others and therefore earn respect yourself. If you lied and said you swam 200 km and didn't then you are lacking the respect from the most important person in the world. YOURSELF.People that try to take the short road and gather respect from others before they respect themselves are only building a house on dirt. As soon as it rains the house will wash away.
