What it sounds like, a year in between leaving school and going to university, most uni like people who have taken gap years because the experience of the "real world" tends to mature them so they study better etc:

 

Do you not have them in the states?

Not really. If someone takes a year or two before continuing their studies it's because they are trying to save up more money. Most start the same year they graduate from high school.

It's happy hour somewhere in the world.

Yes, I think if you are serious about your studies you should start tertiary when you finish secondary.

 

Although a year of military training makes you grow up fast.. :D

No actually we don't. I think there are many who would not go on to university if they took that time off. I had a longer break between high school and college. It was called the army.

Oh I'd definately still go on to uni afterwards, doing this would be good for the CV, I guess its very much a european thing although we get ausies coming accross here doing the equivilent. Anyway has anyone been to SA-i've got family in Jo'burg who say the countries great but other than that I don't know anyone whos been.
