Shaolin monks, how do they do it?

Featured Replies

The shaolin monks, wow. How do they condition there bodies to take so much punishment, their as hard as nails (literally). Mentally and phisically they show the human body at its best, how do they do it? how do they train? why are they so god damn good! :karate:

"When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee

its mind over matter. they drill your mind until it gets stronger than your body. you heard of this story where a mother lifts up a car where her sun was trapped under? thats quite similiar to that what the shaolin want to achieve.

Be everything. Be nothing.

because if they don't, they are beaten silly.

I'm no longer posting here. Adios.

That lifting car thing is a result of shock.. which if used to exceed your normal capabilities is soon followed by unconciousness. I doubt the Shaolin monks would want to use that. :P

Its also called no social life. LOL

They start training very young and don't leave the temple. They don't have tv, psk2, cars, grils, internet, and other things to take their mind off of training. You learn to flip, spin, jump, split, etc when your young your body will be able to do it a long time if you keep training. Hours of prayer and meditation lets you relax and be able to control your emothins.

Anyone who wants to cut their ties from the 21st century can prob. reach this same state. Its all about what is important to you and how much you are willing to pay for it.

(General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."

someone seems JEALOUS..... haha just kidding

shaolin monks chose their path and i'm sure that they take great joy in what they do.. don't forget that we americans have different values then they do

The Shaolin, like everyone else said, train all day, all week, all year. They have some crazy exercises, too.

And as for Mothers, it is all about the Sympathetic Alarm Reaction. See, fear, anger, emotions like the register as the same in your body, and the SNR is turned on and it:

1. Increase blood pressure

2. Increased blood flow to active muscles concurrent with decreased blood follow to organs not needed for rapid activity

3. Increased rate of cellular metabolism through the body

4. Increased blood glucose concentration

5. Increase glycolysis in muscles

6. Increased muscle strength

7. Increased mental activity

8. Increased rate of blood in Coagulation

This is why she exceed her “normal capabilities” when her son was trapped under the car. Besides it was one of those old fashion fiberglass body VW bugs, not like she was lifting an SUV here!
