newbalance Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Stupid question probably. Been in TKD for 3 months now, and many of my bones are starting to crack, a lot like my knuckles. Is this normal? Does this go away, or will it continue? Everything is popping, it seems like.
glingglo Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 i don't know how normal it is, but my shoulders pop a lot more now that i've started doing martial arts. when i raise my hands up over my head to pull my hair into a ponytail, it sounds like rice krispies.
granmasterchen Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 i noticed that i crack a lot so i think it is related to working your muscles and such,,,, i don;t think it is a bad thing That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
StoneSkin Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Your Joints cracking is the noise caused by the fluid moving from one side to another. Its okay. You wont get arthritis or bigger knuckles or any of that kinda stuff just from cracking your knuckles.
Tibby Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 It can be any number of things. Fluid, joints are a little lose, the cartilage or ligaments might be rubbing together. As hazardous as these things sound, it is fine, you are not in trouble, almost everyone’s joints pop. Stoneskin is right, don’t worry about it.
Guest Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 Think of what would happen if you didn't work out.. They didn't pop and are getting worse each day. Then one day in a ripe old martial art age of 40, they all go Snap, Crackle, Pop, Kaboom
Strife Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 Even stranger is that my jaw pops really good when I talk or eat...i still havent figured out why the hell it happens though. My ex-girlfriend could'nt stand to listen to me eat becaues the poping lol. ______________________________________Its only funny until someone gets hurt. Then its hilarious.
Thuggish Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 it will probably go away after a while if its what i think it is. a lot of times, joints wont be perfectly smoothe- the bones develop little bumps or whatever. eventually those are worn down and everything is a lot smoother. a broken arm throws no punches
IAMA_chick Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 mine do it too, only it is my wrists' and my knee's and ankles. i guess it's normal b/c most people in a ma that i know have it Tae Kwon Do15-years oldpurple--belt
theswarm Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 i'm addicted to cracking my back whenever it gets a bit stiff I stretch it out and snap and i'm like AAARRR and then it feels so good i used to crack my fingers out of the joints when i was a kid - now i have the most flexible fingers out of anyone i know - someone tried to pull my finger back as a finger lock and I didn't feel a thing
