Do you enjoy your job?

I'm a junior scientist at the University of MN. We do gene knockdown studies (among other things) in zebrafish. So, I spend half my day doing experiments and the other half directing undergrads and running our aquaculture facility. Our system now can hold an estimated 40,000 fish. I'm working on all the paperwork now for a promotion to Assistant Scientist which will help compensate for the extra duties I've picked up over the last 2 years.

Do I like my job? Some days it's good, others it's terrible. It really depends on how bad the post docs are on my case about things I have no control over. I mean, if all water chemistry, temp, light cycle, and general health check out, there is NO WAY for me to make those fish mate if they dont want to! No matting means no experiments which leads to post docs getting upset. It's enough to make me go crazy some days.

I have a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife biology and originally wanted to do population studies for the Department of Natural Resources or another organization of that type. The job market in that area is very tight right now (read always) so I took this job to get some experience and some money to pay bills. I gotta eat too! I don't know if I want to get into the DNR now, stay in the University setting and work through the ranks a bit, or become a zookeeper.

How do you make millions? Send me $5 and I'll tell you the secret :brow: :D

In one word NO!!!

I work for the British government in Immigration, and it is possibly the most mind numbingly boring and repetitive job ever!!! There are parts that are good, we have some interesting human rights stuff come though, but as a rule it sucks!!!

Thankfully though it is only a temprary job while I focus on breaking into the 'world of forensic science' and the police............fingers crossed that i wont be here for too much longer!!!

Would love to make MA my work but seeing as I have just started I think that this is extremely unlikely or a far off dream......

I enjoy my job. I work for a large employer and have changed positions a few times in the 10 years I've worked there, which makes things more interesting. Last year I was promoted twice, and the newest position is a management position so there is both a lot to learn and still some potential for further promotions and/or special projects.

I am spiralling down a pit of despair. It is not that I hate my job it is more the fact that it does not fit my life.

My partner has to work in the evenings and the kids and I miss her. I can not train regular. Despite not having much or asking for much in life I still struggle financially. I cannot see light at the end of the tunnel.

I so long to have my own business or to change to a more successful job, but would this make me happy. I am not sure.

I am mentally stable

I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"

I've got a new place (cheaper, nicer), I'm finally getting on with my family again, I'm definately going to Uni next year, my trainer says I might be able to fight in August, and I've got a new job! Haha, more money, more to do, get away from the stupid politics in this office. Random other things that are good: My hair's finally long enough to stay in when I spar. I'm having a great time at training, socially and technically. My orthotics have finally come in so I can jog! (Eugh, don't want to, have to :D).

Anyways, just wanted to say I love you all! I'm happy and everything is goood.

My job kicks butt. I get to wage chemical warfare every day with only minimal complaints about how me and my coworkers are destroying the environment.. blah blah blah.

I wouldn't mind being a dictator though. I want to take over the world so I can give mankind direction. Right now everyone's all focused on themselves, when really they should be working 18 hours a day making weapons and spacecraft so we can find alien civilizations, and then conquer them! Dahahahaha! The Universe will be at my mercy, held eternally in check by the might of my massive space fleets! Dahahaha, that'd kick butt!

In the meantime I'll have to settle for chemical-based mass genocide.
