Gandrix Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 I think we must learn how to balance our training. This is main important factor for a fighter.A good fighter must have enouth speed, enouth strength, flexibbility- a proportional development. Destroying this balance-we are sacrificing something (speed, flexibility) How your are balance training in your dojos, your training program for 3,7-days?
Looneyas Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 I balance my training at home not in the Dojo, I take what i learn and train everyday at home. I train hard on basics, Strength, flexibility and Kicking. Learn and u shall TeachTeach and you shall learn,https://www.southpacifictkd.com.au
Kirves Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Yes, I also think solo training at your own time is one of the best ways to balance the training that is given in class. That way you can focus on your own weaknesses.
martialartist1 Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 balance is one of the important aspect of martial arts performance. without it, one will lack skill.
Shotokan_Fighter Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 balance is the key to all techniques, i train on balance at home all the time. We really dont do to much of balance training in the dojo, but we do sometimes. "When I fight, I fight with my heart, and soul. My heart, and soul is Shotokan Karate."Shotokan_fighters creed"karate has to come natural in a fight, if you have to think about using karate in a fight, you will loose the fight"3rd kyu brown belt - shotokan karate
Fenris-wolf Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Yup, you're totally right and it's one of my weaknesses. I train a lot, but I'm pretty bad with motivation outside of the dojo. Will be remedying this soon though. (Jogging, stretching, weights ) Let Us Turn The Jump Rope In Accord With Socialist Principles!
delta1 Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 Ballane to me implies a lot of things, and it is essential to every aspect of the martial arts (in my ever so humble opinion). First off, training must be ballanced with in your lifestyle. Family, work, and other social functions have their due, but should not be allowed to shut out training. Neither should training short these areas. Ballanced training also means working on all skills, especially the ones that I'd rather not. You know, the ones that you never seem to quite get right- I know you've got 'em too! Another aspect of ballance is opposite but complimentary moves. Hard and soft, distance and close, stand up and grappling, hands and feet. Ballance means learning the moves and techniques technically correct, then learning to apply them to a resisting opponent and to use them instinctively. It means being able to do a technically perfect strike, and also being able to adjust it in the heat and confusion of combat. Just a few of my thoughts on the subject. Sure wish to heck I could do all that! Freedom isn't free!
ninjanurse Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 Balance is the key to most things in life. I agree with all of you and it is a daily effort to maintain balance-especially where martial arts are concerned. Balance physically, mentally, spiritually; Balance with your family and their needs; Balance with your job; Balance with your students. To go to the dojo or not go to the dojo? That is the question!!!!!!! "A Black Belt is only the beginning."Heidi-A student of the artsTae Kwon Do,Shotokan,Ju Jitsu,Modern Arnishttp://the100info.tumblr.com/
Kamidake Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 We have class Mondays and Wednesdays, so every Wednesday I ask my teacher what I should do for "homework," and then work on those things Thurs-Sun. That way I don't forget things from Wednesday to the next Monday.
