Tibby Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 Anyone else here into strength sports? Body Building, Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, highland games, WSM, etc, etc. I’ve been to a Body Building contest, I did powerlifting for 2 years at my school and on the Amateur circuit, and I tried my hand at the Highland Games a few times. What about you guys?
telsun Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 I'm into bodybuilding. But would not say I am a bodybuilder. I have some knowledge and prefer the abbreviated approach. But my body is very, very, very far from being near competitor physique I just lack the discipline to continue with training. Unlike martial arts that keep me enticed almost all the time I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
G95champ Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 Not to that degree but being a football coach we do a lot of weight training most of it is exp. training more so than power lifting but we do a bit of everyting. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Tombstone Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 At my old gym I would compete in the "Bench your weight for reps" contest. I never won but it was all in fun.

Tibby Posted July 1, 2003 Author Posted July 1, 2003 Yeah, those contests are fun to have. I beleive Mr. Olympia has a Bench your body weight for 30 reps contest for the fans. I've never competed, but I heard it was fun. You know, nothing big, just some fun for the fans, like Battle of the Biceps. You get trophey, a pic with a fitness model, a little cash, etc. Loon, try benching your weight for 30 reps, that will humble you. You will see plent of guy at powerlifting meets who can do 300+ max(to bad I'm not one of them), but most of them can't do 50 push-ups on the spot. Your muscles can outlift, but can they out last? lol
