Jeet Kune Do Bruce Lee's commentaries on the martial way (My favorite)

Tao of Jeet Kune Do

The Gracie Way

Striking Thoughts (pretty much Brce Lee's philosophy on everything)

As everyone knows Bruce Lee was a great martial artist, but these books focus alot on his philosophy too, which I think is very interesting

"Without Jiu Jitsu its like without my two legs."

"The Encyclopedia of Tae Kwond Do" 15 volume edition [pre 1988 edition] by Gen. Choi Hong Hi
I'm curious to know what version of Tae Kwon Do's history these volumes subscribe to. The hundreds of years old version or the less then 60 years old version?

Peace and may God be with you...

Two books that i would say are very very good books, are "The weaponless warrior" by richard kim which i just basically a lot of cool storie sof okinawan masters and the book zen in the martial arts which is just a more peaceful book kinda. But its kinda boring if you dont like that, but the weaponless warrior is deffinately a very godo and interesting book.

Three English-language books that are key references for Sabaki-style Karate:

Fighting Karate- Hideyuki Ashihara

More Fighting Karate- Hideyuki Ashihara

Sabaki Method: Karate in the Inner Circle- Joko Ninomiya

The Ashihara books are out of print but available through some Internet sites for premium prices.

I'd like to second Karate-addict's suggestion of Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. This is a biography of Musashi's life up until he was about 30. I found it incredibly inspiring and it had many useful insights into martial arts. :)

Kata is like a good stir-fry: preparation and timing are everything.
