Synaesthesia
I love that 5lb exercise. Not only does it provide real gains in speed of punches (and the equally important withdrawl to guard), it provides the fun illusion of feather-like hands after your exercise. Treebranch
Just a thought on punching speed. If you can practice punching without an antic before you punch, your opponent won't see it coming. So basically if your in a boxing position throw the punches from there without retracting first. Subtly drop you weight with the punch to add power from the hips. Try it, it works great. Treebranch
TheHitman585 I read some descriptions of the punch you are referring to online. Can you explain it in your words. From what I gathered it seems to be very similar to some of the Togakure Ryu punches we use, which come out of nowhere. They don't cork screw and they are thrown in unison with the entire body. Do you guys use the word Kamae in your dojo? Thanks "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
Tibby
I'm guessing TheHitman585 is referring to striking with a punuching motion in a hammer fist fashion, that is a punch with the fist thumb on the top, and the pink nearer to the floor.
