No, definitely realistic at all. It will take a year, 2 years?? who knows, but definitely longer than 6 months

The time it takes varies from person to person but I would agree that after six months your probably just going to be getting used to the new techniques your learning and therefore will be alot more rigid than you would have been before you started training. Things get worse before they get better. :)

Six months might be long enough to be broken down to the point where you wouldn't be sure what to do. I think it would take longer than six months to build off of your "breaking down", learning self control, then to be able to properlly defend your self in a street fight.
