MichiganTKD
I don't see a problem for Christians who want to practice Tae Kwon Do. I do see a problem with Christians who try to use Tae Kwon Do or any martial art to promote Christianity. Tae Kwon Do should be separate from religion. Of course, I tend to dislike missionaries in general. My opinion-Welcome to it.
krunchyfrogg
Great article, and discussion afterwards! Thanks so much! ~Just another Christian checkin' in! Fish
Thanks for the article, I found it really helpful. I've wanted to study Karate since I was a teenager, but felt hindered by my Christian faith. I finally took it up last year (aged 34). I now don't see any problem with it: it's great exercise and it teaches you respect, humility and self-discipline, all of which are totally compatible with Christianity. It's nice to know there are so many other Christians who share the same conviction. MichiganTKD
By the way, Christians are no more holy than anybody else. They just like to think they are. Believing you are holy or are God's Chosen because some book lets you think you are is foolish and arrogant. We were all put on this earth the same way, and we all have to make it as best we can. Christians are no more special than Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, and anyone else I may have missed My opinion-Welcome to it.
krunchyfrogg
Who here is stating that they're "more holy" than anybody else? This is a discussion concerning fitting martial arts with our faith, nothing else. MichiganTKD
People should see us a Holy People-btroadman Why should Christians be seen as holy? As I said, they are NOT special. And if you are worried about being able to practice MA as a Christian, it strikes me as belonging to a very constricting set of beliefs. Why should you care whether the Bible allows MA practice? You know what happens to lemmings? They eventually follow their leader off a cliff and get killed. My opinion-Welcome to it.
White Warlock
Lemmings taste like chicken. Wanted to participate in this thread, without actually participating in the silliness of this thread as a whole. Your religious belief is one thing, your studies into means to defend yourself and your loved ones, another. At no time do they conflict unless your belief system advocates total and absolute pacifism. Nice article though. Oh and agree with Michigan. All men were created/conceived equal. But, some are more equal than others... whether it be by physical, mental, financial, and/or positional. Nonetheless, we must strive to treat all with 'equal' respect, especially when they fail to do the same to us or to others. kchenault
Opinions one and all, to be sure, but everyone here should hone up on the subject matter before discussing or interjecting with what could be viewed by some as inflammatory remarks. Thanks for keeping it civil and hopefully on topic. Ken ChenaultTFT - It does a body good!

hermanchauw
I have only one thing to say, with regards the commandment "thou shalt not kill". If somebody attacks u and threatens to kills u, are u going to let him to do it? If yes, u are letting him sin a very grievious sin of murder. We do martial arts to DEFENSE ourselves in case we need to, not to attack people.
