glucosamine

Recommended Posts

I used to get knee pain whenever I would rush down a flight of stairs, or after a karate workout. However, after reading about glucosamine on the board and doing some research on my own I decided to try it out. My knee pains completely disappeared for a while, returning when I had to take a break from training, and the glucosamine.

Without this board I would never have thought to try glucosamine, and I have to thank you for that. I am currently taking glucosamine, chondriotin, and MSM, and I love it. Thanks KarateForums! :D

White and tkd, you two should throw some collagen in there with the joint support you're taking. While Gluc., chond., and

MSM will make a difference, collagen will give you the essentials for building that new conn. tissue. Not only in joints, but in the myelin surrounding muscle fibers as well.

i have a problem with my hips/groin area and i'm wondering if glucosamine could be the solution. anytime i do ab exercises where i keep my legs straight and move them to work my lower abs, i have this grinding/popping in my groin. same when i do too many crescent kicks. it's mostly right where my inner thighs meet my pelvic region. it's not outright pain - but it feels strange and uncomfortable, and it's NOT muscle pain. it's grindy, like cartilage would be. has anyone else experienced anything like this? do you think glucosamine would help?

thanks!

Sounds like your hip flexor. A very common problem with kickers. It's annoying but the only thing you can do is rest and make sure your getting a balanced diet to help it recover. Glucosamine can't hurt it, if the pain was right inside the joint i'd recommend glucosamine but as it is probably on the front of your joint (hip/leg) i'd say you've probably pulled a hip flexor (which doesn't feel like a muscular pain, you'll 'feel' it nearer the joint in the tendon)

If it was more on the inside or on the outside that would be your hip aBductor or aDductor depending on which side. Again very common injuries with kickers.

Take it easy! :)

I had Glucosamine reccomended to me by my orthopod about two years ago, after my last knee surgery. It seems to help. I also use a lot of Ibuprofen, so I will probably die of hepatic or renal cancer before my knees give out. :)
