sanda_kickboxing Posted September 2, 2001 Posted September 2, 2001 Ok ive just watched Enter the Dragon how the hell does Lee kick that great come on whats the secret?? how'd did he stretch how do i stop overturning??? man i need help with my side kicks and turning kicks how'd did bruce perfect his kicks???
thaiboxerken Posted September 2, 2001 Posted September 2, 2001 You use the term "over turning" a kick..... Pretend there is no such thing as "over turning" and put your hips into every kick. You'll find that you get extreme power kicking this way. Bruce Lee had great hip power and "over turned" every round kick that he threw. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Prodigy-Child Posted September 2, 2001 Posted September 2, 2001 kicking good is a physical thing as much as it is a mental thing when you are sparring just maintain a certain calm and relaxsation relax all your muscles and your mind and it will all start coming along.......i guarantee it almost think as if your feet weigh nothing keep bouncing and throw all your material from a non static movement its working for myself! sanda_kickboxing Posted September 3, 2001 Author Posted September 3, 2001 yeah but thats the thing i find it hard putting my hip into the kicks is there a specific exercise that helps do this?
BlueDragon Posted September 3, 2001 Posted September 3, 2001 Like he said practise makes perfect. I don't recommend kicking the air since stopping your kicks gradually wears down the hip. P.S. The Great One is Gretzky and don't you forget it. "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" -Hendrix
thaiboxerken Posted September 3, 2001 Posted September 3, 2001 When I shadowbox the Round kick, i don't stop my kick in the air.. I follow through all the way. Thai-boxers over-turn every kick, that's why it hurts to get kicked by it. Keep your leg relaxed and focus on turning your hip all the way over. When I make contact with my target, my goal is to have my hips turn all the way over. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
babysteffee Posted September 6, 2001 Posted September 6, 2001 Sounds painful... You need to stretch, that's all it is...practise doing the splits, and then jumping into them. It hurts though, but it's worth it...
dafabe Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 do not jump into the splits unless you are very flexable already, or yo will injure your self already, pluss you need to do dynamic streaching to do side kicks not just static.
