Kung-Fu Hippy Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 I don't know which forum to put this in so sorry if it's in the wrong one. How do you practice for the following flips: Backflip Frontflip Kickflip (lie on the floor kick your legs and end up on your feet) No-Handed Cartwheel How do you condition yourself for these flips?
KickChick Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 For flips it is important to jump up as high as you can so you may want to concentrate on plyometric exercises. Jumping up as high as you can and tucking knees (very important for flips!) nice and tight and close to body. Practice forward and backward rolls on mat consistently! Exercises that build your shoulders, triceps, and trapezius muscles are the most effective for increasing your speed and power. Handstand push-ups, and military/shoulder presses are good conditioning exercises. This site has helped me a whole lot and hope it does the same for you! http://www.geocities.com/ox_pasture/Tricks.html
