That sounds bad man. Have you been doing a lot of stretches? Normally I would think of it as double joint, a lot of my joints click when i move them. The ripping thing kind of scares me though, was it like in the muscles or the actually joint?

I have had that "clicking" problem with crescent kicks, too. Because of the motion of the kick, it can sometimes cause the joint to rub together and "click". Try experimenting (soft and slow) with different angles of kicking. You may have to kick slightly lower or higher in order to put your hip into a position where it won't click. However, I don't really know if that's the problem, so it might not be the solution, either.

As far as the ripping sensation, that could be muscular. You should see a doctor on both the clicking and the ripping.

When I had that problem, they sent me into physical therapy to gain muscle. So I got less pain and more power! Not a bad exchange ;)

I did something similar to my right hip in 1992, then kept training on it ... I soon got it into a state where I could barely walk for a month, and couldn't train at all for a year. It still gives me trouble now if I'm not really careful with it.

My advice ... don't train until you've seen a doctor. See the doctor asap, request to be referred to a sports injury specialist if you have any doubt at all...

Oh yeah, and check out http://www.fightingarts.com/reading/article.php?id=256 and the two pages that follow it ... excellent articles and correct stretching and kicking
