Warrior Diet

It breaks away from the norm of conventional diets, in which you actually stave yourself to an extent and eat very little food until tea time, where you eat nearly all your food for the day in one sitting.

Conventional diets advocate lots of small meals throughout the day to keep metabolism going, whereas this one goes back to the way our ancestors lived.

how many pounds average should I expect to lose?

If you're looking for a quick fix, then forget about it! A diet is a way of eating for life, not something to go on while you lose weight, then resume eating whatever you want, whenever you want - you'll gain the weight quickly, plus some more!

However, if that wasn't your aim. How much you can expect to lose will depend on whether the diet is effective or not and how much you have to lose, as well as how much exercise you do. Personally, I don't really like the idea of it as it goes against all conventional information, but it does make sense some what. Yet, our ancestors didn't lift heavy weights or train the way we do as martial artists today, so I think we need carbs in our diet to fuel our workouts. :)

There are always two choices, two paths. One choice is easy and its only reward is it's easy.

It takes sacrifice to be the best.

I noticed the Warrior Diet contradicted almost everything I've learned about losing weight before. But like you said it does make sense so I think I might try it. I just wanted to hear from people that might know about this diet or might have tried it. I agree a diet is a way of life and if I did lose weight I would probably gain it all back if I went back to my old eating habits.

  • 3 weeks later...

I've been doing the following for a couple of months:

Warrior style of diet - small meals every 3-4 hours maintaining an overall calory defecit each day.

30-40 mins cardio workout 3-4 mornings per week (jog, bike etc.) before breakfast.

Karate training 2 nights per week (1.5 hours)

Weight training (free weights) 2 times a week for upper body. 1 time per week for lower body.

So far I haven't lost too much on the scales, but the body fat has just dripped off of me. I need to buy new trousers as mine just don't fit any more. The weight training (strength training) has helped me build some muscle that burns calories and therefore counteracted the weight loss on the scales. The eating pattern has helped keep my metabo running nicely all day so my body doesn't go into "store fat" mode and the AM cardio workout burns up stored body fat.

All up, I'm happy with what I'm doing, am able to keep it up and have been getting visible results from this lifestyle.

WOW that sounds like exactly what i want. Can you maybe explain to me the warrior diet. How big are the meals your eating too? I can do most of that except the weight training because I odn't have access to a gym, but I"m sure my bodyweight is enough. Thanks for post that man I gotta book mark this page.

Forgot one other thing that I'm doing as part of my overall strategy - gallons (litres) of water! A well hydrated body burns fat much more efficiently and disposes of waste products more readilly. I drink from a pop top sports bottle all day and all night. I don't know how much I drink in a day, but I've found that since my metabo has cranked up, I need to drink more.

I'm following a 5 - 6 small meals per day (every 3 - 4 hours) type of diet. SOme refer to this as the Warrior Diet, but I don't follow the one on the website, but my own variation based on this info. and what I've learned elswhere, including this site and some other books that I've read.

Bottom line is to take in less calories than you burn in a day, eat less overall, but break it down into smaller more frequent meals.

Drink LOTS of water too!!!
