SaiFightsMS Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 There is a large number of threads contained within KarateForums on stretching. Here is a list of some of those threads. Keeping in mind that they are not all inclusive when you have a question regarding stretching this is a good place to start. KickChick Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Thank you so much Sai. I believe I have answered many many posts regarding this subject. It is a favorite of both young & old martial artists.... getting and retaining flexibility via stretching for splits or kick height. Sai I hope you don't mind me including these links as well because they contain some more useful info on the goal of stretching.... SaiFightsMS Posted February 26, 2003 Author Posted February 26, 2003 There are probably other threads about stretching that have been made over the course of KarateForums history. This is just a good place to start. And to add links to stretching sites that answer stretching questions.

MantisWarrior Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 thanx for the stretch info Fighting out of hate brings only disgrace.
WolverineGuy Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I'm pretty well versed in stretching and such (my ex fiance was a sports med major), not to mention the years in martial arts, and my recent involvement in weight training. One book that I've found that would probably be a valuable reference to all martial artists would be "Sport Stretch" by Micheal J Alter. There are over 300 different stretches in the book, and he has routines categorized by sport (there is a begining and advanced martial arts routine, as well). While its not the best book, I personally believe it has the most information, with the biggest variety of stretches. shazaam Posted September 27, 2003 Posted September 27, 2003 typically fighters try to kick too high hence the need for strecthing. High kicks are not very practical in a reel fight. Stick to lower kicking, do general yoga type stretching for total body and you should be fine. High kicking is not practical. Peace, Love, Harmony
