shortstick Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 When I train alone or with just one other person, I really like to crank some good music. I often make my own work out mix, it gets my energy up quickly, and helpes replace the good energy you get in a group class. I also would listen to certain music on the way to a class to get me motivated, I will hear the song im my head as i am in class. Even though i am almost 40 I like many forms of music to train to. Right now my pick is the band "Disturbed" good stuff, grinding guitars and a lot of screaming Over the years, I have found music a strong tool for training. Do you like to listen to music when you train? What kind of music gets you going? "The more we change, the more we stay the same"

ramymensa Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 I never train on music from various reasons the first being I use to "taste" the music like one would do with a fine wine. I love music and everytime I listen to it I tend to let myself carried by it, follow the complexity of the melody, enjoy a very good and "poetic" text and so on. This is usually a very fine music, but to complex to use while training (it's most of the time progressive rock, blues and jazz ... they don't have a stable beat). The music that would be good to training it's more "easy" and I don't enjoy it. This means I sometime hate those songs and they are too annoying to be able to concentrate on the training. So I just stick to ... silence In the dojo we warmed up 2-3 times on music (the instructor wanted something new ... we weren't too excited). I was quite happy when she turned off the noise polution thing and we could get to kihon and kumite World Shotokan Karate
tkdlegend Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 i love training to music, really gets my blood rushing, and gets me training harder... alot of it has to do with my love for music though. in tkd we arent allowed to train to music, but in kickboxing we always do -= To truly be immortal, you must be ready to face death. =-
