lilsempai Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Alright. Let me be the first to ask... why? Were you asking me?I'm an assistant instructor, if someone took an interest in training because they saw me bowing then I get a point (or something - new system and I haven't quite got the hang of it) for that week.Maybe 'looking forward' was an overstatemet. Walk your talk - please walk your talk

TSD Y049 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 I bowed while leaving my english class to go to the restroom last year. The whole class started craking up and when I got back me teacher gave me a lecture about trying to make the class laugh! June1 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 LOL! That's a great anecdote! I can just think of how my English teacher would react... I'm sure he already thinks I'm a little weird. That would be the icing on the cake! Kool Kiais: ICE! DIE! KITES! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH! KIAI!"Know Thyself""Circumstances make me who I am."
mindsedgeblade Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I got a really strong urge to bow before crossing the street tonight. Managed to fight it down though. It was really wierd- must be spending too much time on KF The best a man can hope foris, over the course of his lifetime,to change for the better.
aefibird Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 I've only bowed once in error outside the dojo (it was when I was entering the Post Office for some reason...) but I have said Osu and Hai to people before. I'm sure you all know about the funny looks you get when that happens. I've got my bowing mixed up before, though. I've been known to bow and say Osu in Wing Chun and Tai Chi before, and I've also done the clapsed hands gesture from Chinese MA in Karate class too. "Was it really worth it? greenbelt_girl15 Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 I train at a school gym and after some of our classes there's open gym for all of the kiddies since all of the kids are coming in as we are leaving I bow when going out.Haven't got any comments yet just a few weired looks. We also used to train at a public scoll gym so now everytime I'm there I have the strong urge to bow, most the time I check myself but I have bowed a few times going in. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love, a spirit of power, and of self-discipline.2 Timothy 1:7
Kieran-Lilith Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Heh, I have a new problem. I don't know WHERE to bow now. We just switched dojos, and now there's no pretty red lines that tell me I bow there or else. We're betting we bow at the edge of the mats and such, or so we hope....and now I don't know where we'll line up to bow in....huh....Sensei's gonna have lots of new rules to teach... SanShou Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 In class we always say "yes sifu" or "no sifu" after questions that they ask... so now whenever i get asked a yes/no question by anyone I start to say "yes sifu!" or "no sifu!". i'm sure its quite funny.. especially in school when a teacher asks a question and no one answers except the goofy kung fu kid who almost calls the teacher sifu.
strangepair03 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Once, after class, I stopped to get a bottle of water at a convience store, a woman was walking out and held the door for me, I grabbed the door and said "domo" while bowing....I got a look like I had three heads and they were on fire!!! A punch should stay like a treasure in the sleeve. It should not be used indiscrimately.Kyan Chotoku Sensei
