I think the main problem is the complete lack of solid sword form. No other weapon comes close, other than possably the stave. The Okinwanan weapons are farming tools and not really any comparison to the elite weapons of the Bushi. There the fact............

I'm sorry, but that sounds like art bashing, which you seem to be against Kensai. There is no difference saying "BJJ is better than karate" than "Sword is stronger than staff". It depends on the practitioner, doesn't it - that seem to be what you preach.

I aggree tobias with you but I don't think it as clear cut in the weaponed arts. Some weapons have an obvious advantage over others just based on the physical advantages/disadvantages. But I do agree with you in saying that their is not supreme weapon, and kensai for you to say this I think you are very wrong.

Yes, I do agree that some weapons are 'better' than others at dealing with other certain weapon, BUT, I would rather hold a staff against someone holding tonfa who has no idea to use them. Then again, I would rather hold tonfa against someone with a stff :D

PS. (e)-men rule......in more ways than one, eh Kensai?

Indeed they do Tobaid indeed they do.

And Leaf, I have not really done anything wrong. In general, the Samurai were out numbered. And their quality won the day, same with the Mongols.

As for this Flame war, its just joking about. Tobais studies an art that uses garden tools, like TROWLS. He really wants a Katana and he just cant.

Kensai

You have already proved you know very little about the martial arts, plus you have very unreasonable opinions.

Besides, my "Trowel of Destruction +2 Strength" is far superior to your "Wooden Stick of Weakness - 2 Constitution"

(I think I've been playing too much D&D :D)

hmm, this has got me thinking. If I recall the Kobudo came into development in response to the japanese rule over okinawa, not as a defense to it. Therefore one could conclude that prior to the invsaion by japan, there was no kobudo. I am not sure of my understanding on this, perhaps tobias or someone else can offer their take on this :)
