sore muscles

Is there anyway you can prevent sore muscles following training? It's just my shoulders and arms that are sore for a couple of days after a class, my legs aren't. I've tried the usual warm baths and plenty of stretching exercises when warming down but nothing seems to be working.

try eating bannas..the soreness is due to the depletion of potassium..and build up of latic acid..bananas have high concentration levels of potassium to replinish those sore muscles also drink lots of fluids...

Taezee....great advice! Yes, increasing your potassium does help (so does 2 tylenol before bed and someone to massage those sore shoulders and arms!)....

It's a "hurts so good" type of sore... but if you’re sore for more than a few days, you’ve probably done minor damage. Make an effort to rest those muscles for few days, and then begin light workouts again. If you’re still incredibly sore after that, consult your doctor.

Massage will also help increase circulation, and reduce soreness. Not to mention it can be enjoyable. :brow:

It also helps reduce tightening of your muscles.

I'm sure you could easily find volunteers.

Or the next time I'm over in the UK I promise to be your personal massuer.

Asprin thins the blood, and in large doses (20 at a time or so) can cause stomach damage. Half an asprin a day is reccomended for prolonged use. It makes life easier for the heart as the blood is thinner, and is now being prescribed for heart attack prevention. Note that prolonged use can affect the body's ability to clot, as the substance needed for clotting is in less concentration due to the thinning of the blood. I would guess that the blood thins due to more water being re-absorbed by the kidneys, so more pressure would be put on them too. I'm not sure about the effects of more ADH in the blood, but it's naturally occuring so i dont think it would affect the body in any way.

[Please note that this could be a complete pile of arse.]

Note how "arse" hasnt been censored... te he, i beat the system. (I bet it gets censored now, so i look like a fool for writing all this)

Thanks for your kind offer Iron Arahat!

The soreness only lasts throughout the following day and then the next morning it's ok...it's kind of like a "my body's not used to this" pain, but my body is used to it. But yeah, it's probably a good thing that it hurts...and if it didn't maybe I hadn't worked hard enough.

Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone...

And thanks again for the offer...
