Bruce Lee is still a big deal in the Asian community, not just the martial arts world. There's even a book out about his cultural effect now, a generation later. Bruce was up against racism and traditionalism, what he did was pioneering.

I trained in JKD for quite a few years with people from Tim Tackett's Wenesday Night Group. Our JKD came out of the Oakland/Chinatown school era. Tim was an early student of Dan Inosanto during that time.

That would have been an awesome experience!

I too trained some JKD in the past. One teacher was a student of Jerry Poteet. Another trained with several of the first generation guys, but he was originally a student of my first teacher. And another was from the Dan Inosanto side of the fence.

but Bruce Lee is not as big a deal in the Asian community on the east coast. But that didn’t stop me from finding the Bruce Lee statue when I was in Hong Kong and getting my picture taken with it-)
