Dober Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 Hello, I'm taking BJJ as you can tell from the topic and was wondering if there is specific exercises I should be doing at home. I have access to a full weight training home gym, I can job, bike, run, whatever. Also looking for some nutritional advice. Thanks. White Belt - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
BonnyBoy Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 Eliminate caffeine from your diet, I remember reading this somewhere, I think it's because caffeine slows you down. Not sure. You might want to consider investing in Beyond Brawn, which you can get from https://www.hardgainer.com , I've been told it's the best $25 you'll ever spend, but I can't vouch for it yet. I'm buying the book, and will make a weight training routine for myself, 'cause there is a guy I roll with who's only 73kgs and thanks to lifting weights he has crazy strength which allows him to pull me around like a rag doll in his guard. Swimming seems like it would be really good cardio for your endurance, but nothing will take the place of rolling, it's a different kind of fitness. A strong neck will also serve you well, especially for bridging and getting out of positions. You can do exercises like the neck bridge, but I've heard it's a dangerous exercise to do. There are always two choices, two paths. One choice is easy and its only reward is it's easy.It takes sacrifice to be the best.
