Patrick Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Hey all, Getting (what I think was) the flu last weekend was having me googling nausea treatments, and I came across some I hadn't heard before. I was curious what works for you, if anything. Patrick Patrick O'Keefe - KarateForums.com AdministratorHave a suggestion or a bit of feedback relating to KarateForums.com? bushido_man96 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I take a Dramamine here and there to try to quell it. If things get really bad, I have some more potent prescriptions. If there is anything natural that anyone knows of, I'm all ears, too. 1 https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Patrick Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 (edited) Thanks Brian. Dramamine is actually one of the things I just picked up for next time. I have never used it because I felt like it was more of a thing people take because they can't do rides at a theme park, etc. So, I'll have it for next time. The smell of rubbing alcohol is another one I read about, as well as ginger candies, so I got some of those to try, too. It doesn't happen much, but when it does... Wastelander Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Depends on the severity and the cause, for me. If it's mild, I can generally use mint or ginger to calm my stomach. If that doesn't cut it, I take dramamine, and after that I can take Zofran or Fenergan, but those are prescriptions. If the nausea is caused by migraine, I have Ubrelvy to stop the migraine and reduce the symptoms, but that's also prescription. 1 KishimotoDi | 2014-Present | Sensei: Ulf Karlsson Shorin-Ryu/Shinkoten Karate | 2010-Present: Yondan, Renshi | Sensei: Richard Poage (RIP), Jeff Allred (RIP) Shuri-Ryu | 2006-2010: Sankyu | Sensei: Joey Johnston, Joe Walker (RIP) Judo | 2007-2010: Gokyu | Sensei: Joe Walker (RIP), Ramon Rivera (RIP), Adrian Rivera Illinois Practical Karate | International Neoclassical Karate Kobudo Society
bushido_man96 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Talking along the line of migraines, I recently was prescribed Verapamil to take daily. Last Saturday was a bad day, but Sunday when I got to eat some breakfast and take that pill, it made a difference. I also have prescription diazapem in case of severe cases of vertigo. 1 https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
sensei8 Posted Monday at 02:31 AM Posted Monday at 02:31 AM Crackers seem to do the trick for me whenever I’m feeling nauseous. Sometimes throwing up works too for me. Both worked whenever I was doing my cancer treatments. I love eating lemons a lot however they sometimes induced me to throw up….then I’d fell ALL SNAPPY and good to go. **Proof is on the floor!!!
Patrick Posted Monday at 10:23 PM Author Posted Monday at 10:23 PM I can definitely sleep... after throwing up, haha. Trying to see what I can do to avoid that but ultimately not always avoidable. Patrick Posted Tuesday at 03:54 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:54 AM Thanks for checking. No, no, I'm not. I just decided I would try to be prepared for next time (or when someone in my family has it happen). 1 Patrick O'Keefe - KarateForums.com AdministratorHave a suggestion or a bit of feedback relating to KarateForums.com?
