Favourite Sport that isn't a "National" Sport in your Country

Featured Replies

Out of curiosity, what sport do you enjoy that isn't a National Sport in your Country. So for instance Basketball is a National Sport in Australia, so NBA (USA) and Euroleague (Europe) are out of the running of the question involved.

However Baseball would be a Valid option in Australia, as there is no real National League; even though we supply a team to International Events.

Outside of Karate, I enjoy watching Gridiron (NFL).

For me plenty! I enjoy the NFL (a longstanding Bills fan) and Baseball (Mariners) probably the most out of sports that aren't really National Sports over here.

Interesting question!

Interesting question!

isn't it basically Soccer and Golf over there?

The only thing I don't like about NFL is how long it goes for; averaging 3 hrs 12 min. thankfully rugby is generally done in under 2 hrs (from kickoff to full time).

Over here it is basically football, football or football. Is not uncommon for someone to be asked "what team do you follow?" (due to the Rangers vs Celtic rivalry) and even if you say "i don't follow football" to be met with "but if you had to choose which one would it be?"

People play golf etc. but not watched as much. Same for rugby etc.

I would say there is a large difference here between sports that people participate in and those that people watch: lots of people play golf etc. but don't think as many go out of their way to watch it.

For me I don't have a "team" for a lot of sports especially the NFL.

But since posting this thread; I really got into Bananaball which is baseball with a few twists (like a 2hr time limit).

It sounds like you mean watching as opposed to playing. If playing, I'd say golf! My Dad has worked in the industry for my whole life, and I've had a club since I could walk. I have not actually played in a few years after I hurt myself hitting a drive on the 2nd or 3rd hole at Pebble Beach of all places (it was a special, once-in-a-lifetime trip, and I got hurt for the first time in my life, ugh). But I want to start hitting balls again!

If watching, I'd say hockey!
