The Utah Hockey Club had their first shootout in team history tonight and did it in front of their home crowd, facing Minnesota.  However, it did not go how Utah wanted, Matt Boldy of the Wild put one in the net and the Wild get the two points, winning 5-4. Maples Leafs beat the Devils 2-1 in OT, and the other winners tonight included the Flyers, Avalanche beat the red-hot Penguins, Hurricanes, Flames, Kings, Lightning, Panthers over Kraken in a shootout, Blues over Canucks in OT, and the Jets hammered the Bruins 8-1.

Vegas is looking good, and now with Stone back in the lineup I expect they will be scoring more.  Though the LA Kings are hot and right on their tail.  Could be an interesting race in that division.

Only two games on Wednesday, the Senators beat the Ducks 5-1 behind a hat trick from Drake Batherson, which included his 100th career goal.  Ducks have now lost 4 in a row. Rangers beat the Sabers 3-2.  Rangers have struggled a little bit of late, maybe this will be the start of a turn around.

Nashville did not lose today because they were off.  Disappointing season for them, if this keeps up they won't be the Predators any longer, more like the sheep that were lead to the slaughterhouse. :uhoh:

When there is a slow night, the next one is usually busy, 14 games on Thursday, including your Knights Bob, who will be in Winnipeg.

Penguins beat the Canadians in the blowout of the night, 9-2.  There were a few other blowouts but that was the biggest one. Oilers caged the Wild 7-1 and the Lightning electrocuted the Flames 8-3. Knights beat the Jets in overtime, Capitals beat the Jackets in OT, other winners were the Flyers, Islanders, Predators. Sharks, Kraken, Canucks, and the Utah Hockey Club.

Only one game coming up for Friday the 13th (who schedules this??) it is the Senators at the Hurricanes.

A few news and notes:

The Ducks have traded Cam Flower to the Blues in exchange for Jeremie Biakabutuka and a 2027 2nd round pick.

Maples Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz is listed as day to day after suffering a lower body injury this week.  He has a 9-1 record and a 2.15 GGA so far this season is second best in the league.

Since there are a lot of games today here are some of the early day finals.  Oilers 6-3 over Knights, Devils 4-1 over Blackhawks, Kings 5-1 over Rangers, Wild 4-1 over Flyers.

The NHL is getting Wrigley Field ready for the Winter Classic, this year between the Blues and the Blackhawks. The game will be on December 31.

Alex Ovechkin is traveling with the Capitals for the two games on the road this week and did a morning skate with the team.  He could be back on the ice as soon as next week. In the absence of Ovechkin over the last month the Capitals have performed well and are second in the league in standings points. Their 3-1 loss in Dallas on Monday ended a 10-game road winning streak.

On the other side are the Buffalo Sabers, losers of ten in a row.  Buffalo has the longest streak in the league of missing the playoffs, I believe 13 years, and they are looking like they will continue that streak again this season.  They have a chance to break the losing on Tuesday as they go against the Canadians, another team having a tough year.

Two other games tonight, Florida beat Edmonton 6-5 and Vancouver leads Colorado 2-0 in the 3rd.

During the Blues/Stars game Saturday evening, Stars' defenseman Liam Beschel laid a really nice hit on Blues' captain Brayden Schenn that sent him into the Stars' bench.  What was even funnier was that he landed right next to Stars' captain Jamie Benn, who was mic'ed up for the game.

Enjoy:
