KickChick Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 ... and they you can't teach an old dog "new tricks" .... and they say you learn something new everyday! (well, besides martial arts.... What new things have you learned? Here are some personal "learnings": I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life. I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a "life." I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.... (and I do/did!) I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usuallymake the right decision. ... well, usually! I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, a smile or just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.(most especially in martial arts) I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

I've learned that people will always remember the bad things, no matter how many nice things you have done (all the more reason to be constantly nice, then!). I've learned that you really can achieve anything if you really have your heart and mind set on it. I've learned that effort and self discipline are more important than talent, but harder to find. I've learned that true friends are exceedingly rare, but family members will always stick by you. I've learned that life is a journey that should be taken one step at a time and enjoyed as much as possible. I've learned that the more time that is spent worrying; the less time that is spent working to improve your problems. I've learned that nothing is constant and never changing and that nothing can or should be taken for granted. Smile. It makes people wonder what you've been up to.

Here's one --- I've learned that whenever I am in a hurry to get somewhere in the car, I usually find myself behind the world's worst drivers! --- lesson to be learned? "Don't be in such a hurry!"

I've learned that close, true friendships should be nurtured and cherished, because people who put up with my crap are hard to find. BUT I've also learned that some people will never change for the better; when that happens, the only thing to do is move on. 1st dan & Asst.
