There are serious risks associated with many types of martial arts, how far are you willing to go?

Extreme martial arts training and testing methods are often not the same as when they have been exported overseas perhaps you can see why

Does this type of training really make a maist proficient in martial arts?

Is this nesccecerily worth while allowing oneself to be put through these types of activities?

How would you react if your CI was similar to this one?

I'm not going to take risks at all.

Martial arts is a hobby for me. I don't want to risk my health or my livelihood for a hobby. My instructors understand that and don't push anyone beyond what they're comfortable doing. I wouldn't be a member of a class where I was worried I was going to get hurt.

I think the stuff in the video goes beyond martial arts training. It's more like trying to be a navy seal or a green beret. That's not for your average person and certainly not for a hobbyist.

I really don't see these severities needed in this video, to become a maist, as this isn't necessary to damage oneself in the process, as this is counterproductive.

I suspect there is something more here than what meets the eye, such as an initiation test or hazing, as if you do this then you belong with us, type of deal.

They also look to me, as "training" to belong to a type of suicide squad, as in preparing for one way missions.

Or if being caught and being tortured they would have been trained well enough as not to talk till the last breath.

Hobbyist I think not, as they all seem destined for early retirement without benefits or funeral plans.

This also goes to show, what people will do to belong to something, no matter how dangerous it can be.

As the obvious obedience levels weren't normal behaviour between student and teacher, abuse like this is deeply disturbing and demoralizing, similar to an abusive parent, that claims to be strict like this, as to be cruel to be kind; "where cruel is cruel" no matter how it is disguised.

As conformity has a way of introducing a person towards bonding with others and giving them a sense of security and family connection; which I believe these people perhaps have never had; which is now being exploited and is profiting the abusers.

Not in the least because there are far other effective and practical ways to become proficient in the MA.

I don't believe that those type of activities are worthwhile endeavors to subject oneself to; no pain no gain, but OUCH!!

How would you react if your CI was similar to this one?

I'd get up and leave immediately; to never return providing I was allowed to watch some classes beforehand...and if I couldn't watch a few classes first, I'd thank the CI, and then politely excuse myself.

:)
