Goose Posted August 22, 2001 Posted August 22, 2001 Hi gang, I gave up smoking 7 months ago, and I don't miss a single cigarette. Mind you, I'm now addicted to Shotokan Karate and Kobudo. I just can't get enough If you really want to quit, you'll quit. Try working out how much you spend on cigarettes, it worked for me. _________________ Best Wishes Darryl Garrick 9th Kyu Shotokan Karate Karate International Black Belt Schools (UK) [ This Message was edited by: Goose on 2001-08-22 14:02 ] Goose6th Kyu Shotokan Karate9th Kyu Okinawan KobudoKarate International Black Belt Schools (UK)
Prodigy-Child Posted August 30, 2001 Posted August 30, 2001 uhm....people who smoke are morons! why do they do it? dont you just cringe at the thought of putting all that poison into your body!!!!!!! jeez! You can boo me if you want, You know I'm right!-Chris Rock
Kickbutt Posted August 30, 2001 Posted August 30, 2001 While it's definately not a healthy thing to do, it's also an addiction like alcohol - and is supposed to be harder to kick than heroin, so please ease up on us former smokers, cause quitting is VERY difficult and should be commended. Please don't be so judgemental unless you've been there (or maybe you have - ?). Thanks! Lori If you think something small cannot make a difference - try going to sleep with a mosquito in the room.-Unknown-
babysteffee Posted August 30, 2001 Posted August 30, 2001 I'll second that Kickbutt! It's hard to stop smoking, especially when you put a little weight on... and even now when I go out I'm tempted to "be a moron and put poison into my body". Fair enough, smoking is a silly thing to do...but how many people have a bad habit?
Prodigy-Child Posted August 31, 2001 Posted August 31, 2001 im still not buying that i understand that people 50 years ago did it cuz they didnt know what it would do to their health but why do people do it now? with all the education and advertisments telling you what the hell can happen to you after years of smoking ........ doesnt that just click in to your head that you shouldnt do it? You can boo me if you want, You know I'm right!-Chris Rock
babysteffee Posted August 31, 2001 Posted August 31, 2001 everybody knows they shouldn't do it...that doesn't make it any less addictive though.

Well yes - however I started as a teenager when it was cool to smoke - and it still is considered cool in alot of ways - the media is sending out mixed messages - now it's cool if you smoke cigars, so go figure. When you're a teenager, you're more impressionable and still learning alot in many ways - especially how to fit in and some teenagers are more impressionable than others, as I was. I grew up in a house full of smokers, so had an influence from early on. I quit because I didn't want my daughter to grow up seeing me smoke. Anyways - to each his/her opinion, but don't judge unless you've been there. Lori If you think something small cannot make a difference - try going to sleep with a mosquito in the room.-Unknown-
