Jack
Hello again, KickChick some of those methods do look interesting and have a theoretical reason behind them, but it is frowned upon by the Bodybuilding community to work the weaker, smaller side harder. It is much preferred to use dumbells and work both sides equally hard, and to stop working the stronger side when the weaker side gives up. Working the weaker side in different ways with more intensity or more volume is not always good, if you work the weaker pec harder it will need more recovery time than the stronger pec, and the stronger pec may continue to get srtronger because it gets the recovery time it needs while the weaker continues to lag. In my opinion - Remember that less is more, keep working your pecs the same but allow the stronger pec to wait for the smaller one to catch up, instead of pushing your weaker ones harder with a work intensity they may not be able to handle well. If you treat them the same, theres a higher chance of a completely accurate, natural balance being achieved. Thanks, PS. You'll probably go with Deby's idea, since I wrote this first thing in the morning and never make sense when I do that. KickChick
KickChick some of those methods do look interesting and have a theoretical reason behind them, but it is frowned upon by the Bodybuilding community to work the weaker, smaller side harder. A general rule to remember is to work opposing muscle groups equally so that you don't develop asymmetrical muscle development. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ice9b.jpg in order to understand just how not to attain asymetrical development you may want to click on this link http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ice9.htm in order to understand the physiological nature of the pectoral muscles and the "correct" way to train them (since I am not very knowlegeable in this area... and its not even early in the morning ) Jack what you posted does in fact make sense, however the "smaller" pec may not in fact "catch up" if you keep training the way you always do and see no results. ad
i can see from what both Jack, Kickchick and other members have said there have been a variety of different ways to approach this problem, some methods suggested by a member seem to be condemned by another so i am still weary to what final decision i should take. i will not undergo any excercises until an answer is produced which is agreed generally by all members keep the suggestions commni Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
ad
yo, since were on the topic of pectorials sos to change the sort of topic but what are the ideal sort of press ups to work your pecs the most?, is it better to do double shoulder width press ups, so its like normal press ups, but you extend your arm horisontally twice as much but dont move them vertically or is it better to do the normal ones to work em better? KickChick
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/pecs.htm Here you will find alot of real good exercises (animated videos too) .... using weights is the ideal way to build the pec region but doing various variations of push ups incorprating dynamic tension (do your push-ups nice and slow while flexing hard your pectorals) can also foster chest muscle growth -- (one-arms, incline, decline, hand out, close-grip, wide-grip... they can also be done between chairs, this was the favorite exercise of Charles Atlas. Another variation is dips between parallel bars.

KickChick
I think that link pretty much covers the different exercises for the chest.
