Since no one else started it, I figured I would...

1. Earn 1st kyu.

2. Minimum 2x per week with my BOB XL

3. Increase leg and hip flexibility

1. Start solo internal bodywork training to learn to develop better structure and connection.

2. Improve my sparring. Sport karate bores me but I really need to commit myself to that aspect of my training. It won't change how I feel about the tournament circuit but it's something I've avoided and shouldn't.

3. Achieve shodan in wado ryu.

1. Get my hips assessed, diagnosed and repaired (if possible).

2. More sparring

3. Continue to support my club in anyway I can

I actually forgot 2...

4. Take a class under Kaicho Nakamura

5. Compete in our annual tournament

I wanted to compete this year and started training to compete, but the tournament date conflicted with important family stuff.

1. Focus more on my teaching and how I can become a better teacher.

2. Get my Nidan.

3. Commit to more practice at home outside of class.

Happy New Year all

I've two... one small and one not so small:

1. Get back to the gym and be more structured with my training

2. Start my own club

Starting your own club, Danielle, is a great idea because you've got everything required in making it a great success!! Your Student Body will be very fortunate in having you as their instructor!!

I hope so... though it probably won't go over well at my current club or with my instructor

Indeed! Go for it!! Ossu!

My resolutions this year are simple:

1. Actually take that sandan exam that I've been dodging for the past ....6 years

They almost got me in 2017, but I managed to duck testing long enough to finally make my sentei flow the way I wanted them to, and to test some new kumite ideas I've been working on in secret for the past 5 years that I took away from competition. I feel calmer now, sturdier now, albeit with a longer recovery time as I age. I think I'll give it a go.
