Somebody told me that if you hold a martial arts license that you can carry nunchaku out in the street as long as they are consealed and use them if you have to(last resort)as long as you warn the person confronting you that you are trained in martial arts.IS IT TRUE?

As far as I know, it is illegal to use any weapon in public (eg street). When carrying weapons they have to be concealed, for example in a carry-case.

I'm not sure about the rules about bein attacked, but I have known of martial artists to win a fight with a weapon, only later to be charged.

This may not count as a weapon but my dog has proved to be a great way to avoid a fight. Ever since a skate park was put in near my house alot of f*cks (no offence to any skateborders out there) have been hanging around my neighborhood. It hasn't really been a problem for me(potheads can't fight) but my parents were concerned about my little sister. So from now on she walks around with our Husky Simon. He weighs 105 pounds and comes up past my hip. No one goes near my sister now.

Bear in mind that you can also be held accountable for the actions of your "pet".

I don't need to tell many of you here from the states about the countless stories of people being mamed or killed by pitbulls! :dead:

yes thats true

its a shame that the only protection seems to be no protection at all.

unless your ready to go to court to prove it was self protection against a life threating action against you or your love one.

well, I said bo. Concealment wasn't an issue in the poll so i didn't think about that part of it. A bo or staff has a great reach advantage, hurts like ---, and you don't need to kill/maim someone to use it effectively as with a knike or sword.

Hi all

JUst a point to make...the nunchaku has a longer reach than the bo. Something I often tell my kobudo students

I choose other. Although the other choices are great weapons, they are very hard to conceal. Even a pocket knife has disadvantages, as most folding knives will break in real battle. I prefer a manrikigusari chain. It is powerful enough to break cinder blocks (trust me, I've done this) if used properly, it can be thrown, and if you spin it in a figure 8 in front of yourself then any attacker will be afraid and uneasy in their advances. Also, it can be concealed in ANY pocket. I never leave home without mine. Either way....they look REALLY cool too!
