University study on martial arts and personality

Recommended Posts

Hello

My name is Alan Buchan. I am primary school teacher, father of 3, keen martial artist and psychology student in my spare time with the Open University. I am a 2nd Dan in Tukido started by Grandmaster HA Teh in Scotland. I am completing my final module as part of my BSc Psychology (Hons) and would really appreciate my fellow martial artists to complete the questionnaire about martial arts and personality. It should take about 15 minutes to complete.

I am attempting to gather as many responses from as many styles as possible so any help the community can give me would be greatly appreciated. This is not phishing and all responses are confidential and require no personal details. The study has received ethical approval from the Open University and all information is confidential and stored securely.

Many thanks in advance if you take the time to help me out and if not all the best anyway in whatever style you take part in.

Alan

Many thanks for completing. Really appreciate it.

As soon as my study is completed and marked I will post the findings.

If you or anybody else on the forums know of others who would be willing to complete the questionnaire I would greatly appreciate if you could advise me or simply point them towards the link

Thanks again

Alan

Done. Even though it took me two days to complete it.

However, things like this do not define who I am as a MAist, nor do they define me as a person; it's just a thing based on one's opinion(s).

Imho!!

Done. I don't see how this has anything to do with MA. It reminds me of a survey to identify whether you are liberal of conservative minded.

The person who succeeds is not the one who holds back, fearing failure, nor the one who never fails-but the one who moves on in spite of failure.

Thanks for doing that and taking the time. The personality measure is the HEXACO 60 question version (it goes up to 200!!) and is administered on the general population so its not specifically aimed at martial artists. The study will be looking at martial arts grade etc from the initial part of the survey and seeing how they correlate to the HEXACO 6 factors of personality. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks again

Alan
