I know it might be funny but I have one simple question for all MA practitioners that use glasses, What do you do in Sparring ?!

It has been always a concern for me as I use glasses all the time since I was 16 YO specially when sparring in a kyokushin style !

We don't hit each other in the face for sparring, so I just wear them. I've gotten popped in the glasses a few times accidentally, but nothing bad enough to damage them-- usually just hurts the bridge of my nose or scratches it a bit.

If I were to be in an style with head strikes, I'd do what I do for Judo and wear contacts.

In Kyokushin head strikes are allowed but I have a problem with contact lenses though , hard situation for me I guess 😂

That's a bummer. I'm pretty near sighted but I've been in contacts since I was a kid. They are awesome, but if your eyes won't take them then the suggestion doesn't help much.

I've had friends take them off in the past, and I've had friends become experts at defending their heads. It really all depends on what you do I guess. Contact lenses seem like the best option to me though. That being said, I only wear glasses to read, so this has never been an issue.

I don't but my sister wears glasses. She manages with contacts.

You can get away with glasses for kata and solo work but they aren't great for sparring. You can get prescription sports goggles which might be safer??

My problem with the contact lenses is more psychological than anything else  I hate placing anything inside my eyes but I guess at one stage I will need to overcome that !

I wear sport goggles with my distance prescription in them for sparring.

When I was 12-20 years old I was able to wear contacts. Sadly, my work doesn't allow me to for safety reasons (biochemist who works with very strong acids and bases) so over the last five years I've been solely wearing glasses.
