Renewing myself...or at least trying to!!

Sensei8 you have an incredible amount of knowledge and understanding on the subject of martial arts; you are most definitely, worth your weight in gold.

You weight issues have given you empathy for others...

The same for me on the opposite end, I was nicknamed "Legweak" as a kid, due to my last name being Armstrong and of course for being a very skinny kid.

People with a great physique, might be hiding behind their muscles due to their lack of intelligence.

No matter how you look at it, none of us are perfect and never will be, because we know that perfection is just an illusion.

We are bombarded with impossible images of perfect looking people, as an artist, I know that advertising is based on selling products through peoples insecurities; it's a multibillion dollar industry.

To sell products, you the consumer need to compare yourself with an illusion of perfection.

Then sell you products to make you believe you are becoming more attractive or appealing or successful if you use them.

Body makup is a way nature helps mammals survive in the wilderness with fat to stay warm, this is reality and not illusionary paid advertising hype.

As a skinny kid growing up, I hated the cold weather months, at times I thought I would die from hypothermia and have suffered occasionally from frost bite.

We are all different, nature gave us many ways to battle and survive, making intelligent choices is one of them, tall, small, fat or skinny, no matter what you look like, making healthy choices improves your chances for survival over those that throw their choices to the wind.

Something to consider when trying to loose unwanted weight.

When fat is being burned off, it might not be so obvious that muscles are getting bigger and bones are becoming more dense; equalizing the weight ratio.

This post of yours, and the one right before this one are SOLID!! Things for me to consider and remember!! Thanks, Alan!!

Sensei 8, I have only just come across this as I haven't logged into the forums in so long!

Good luck to you in your quest for the lifestyle changes you are aiming for, it's not easy but then what in life is?

I too am going through something of a major change to my lifestyle after having suffered a horrid bought of depression and anxiety in recent months, out is going the alcohol as of end of this month, out goes the takeaways and in comes more training (with son), swimming and gyming...lets see where we get to.

Sounds as if your Afib has been a blessing in disguise, weighing in at 350 lbs in 2016.

Loosing about 70 Ibs so far is an incredible achievement for 2017; you must be doing something right.

It's been many years since I once weighed 350lbs. When this weight loss journey began on October 4th, 2016, I weighed 326lbs, and as of this evening, I now weigh 253lbs...73lbs loss.

I'm trying to do the right thing everyday across the board. I'm proud of what I've accomplished thus far on this journey.

With the Afib returning, my October 4th, 2017 weight loss goal of 111lbs, bringing me down to 215lbs will NOT happen. As of right now, I'm 38lbs away form my goal. Unfortunately, October 4th is only just over 2 weeks away. To reach my goal, I'd have to lose 19lbs a week...NOT DOABLE!!

While I've won many battles during this journey, I've lost the war!!

I was on track until my Afib returned!! I'm very disappointed in myself, and proud of myself at the same time...mixed feeling abound, for sure!!

Today, Friday, October 6, 2017, at 3:55pm, I had a Holter Monitor installed today. The good news is that I only have to wear this monitor for 24 hours. So, tomorrow, Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 4:00pm, I'll return the monitor to the hospital where I had it installed. My cost, with co-pay, $596.00!! That's $50.00 per month for about 11 months. OUCH!!

This 24 hour monitor monitors my heart!! Substitutes any Stress Test!! Cardiologist will interpret the findings, and plan for what to do next with my returning Afib!!

Is it 4pm yet?? Man!!

Sometime last night while I slept, one of the 5 leads, the Black one, came off. I can only guess that it fell off around 0500-0945. Just as soon as I noticed it, my wife, Linda, reattached that lead back onto me in the exact spot. We were given a chart that shows exactly each of the 5 leads attachment locations are.

I pray that the recording signal wasn't degraded and/or compromised. I did record that event on my Holter Monitor Diary, as required by the hospital.

Less than 3 hours before I can get this thing off me!! Driving me crazy!!
