DWx Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 If you could have an hours private tuition with any martial artist, past or present, who would it be? And why? "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
Alan Armstrong Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I would train with Bruce Lee. Because he is the real thing.
Nidan Melbourne Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Hmmm too many to choose from; but if i could i'd choose: - Bruce Lee- Jackie Chan- Gichin Funakoshi- Chojun Miyagi - Kenwa Mabuni- Masutatsu Oyama- Kanryo Higoanna- Morio Higoanna- Iain Abnerthey - Luca Valdesi - Jesse Enkamp (Again) - Patrick McCarthy- Antonio Diaz- Rika Usami - Sandy Scordo
sensei8 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 There's no one that I'd choose to train with because, before I can train with anyone, I first must be worthy, and I'm not worthy; and right now, I feel like I'm the furthest thing from being worthy!! **Proof is on the floor!!!
bassaiguy Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Takeda Sokaku, Azato Ankoh, Funakoshi Gichin, Only an hour, though. That's tough. "Honour, not honours." ~ Sir Richard Francis Burtonhttp://oronokarate.weebly.com
JR 137 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 There's no one that I'd choose to train with because, before I can train with anyone, I first must be worthy, and I'm not worthy; and right now, I feel like I'm the furthest thing from being worthy!! All I can picture right now is Wayne and Garth meeting Alice Cooper backstage.
wildbourgman Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Lets go old school and say Satunuku "Tode" Sakagawa. WildBourgMan
Tempest Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Nicoletto Giganti Think first, act second, and stop getting the two confused.
sensei8 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Yoshinobu Takahashi; my Sensei...I miss him greatly!! **Proof is on the floor!!!
JR 137 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Not sure how much I'd come away with in a 1 hour private lesson. But if I could, I'd go with Chojun Miyagi. My favorite kata are Goju kata. Just watching him do them would be enough. It would be good to see how much they've been changed over the years/generations. I could also ask him what bunkai he had in mind when creating his kata; coming straight from the horse's mouth leaves little doubt.Of course all of that assumes he has to answer each question fully.
