Nict
I currently wear a cross over gi, with ties at the side,I find the front doesn't stay secure and in warmer weather I am finding it too warm wearing a t shirt but I don't like the pull over the head style. Does anyone know of anywhere that does women's uniforms with some sort of extra fastenings or covering at the front?

Wastelander
Taekwondo dobok are basically a baggy v-neck longsleeve shirt, and many manufacturers make "female cut" uniforms. Most female karateka I know who have trouble with the gi coming open just sew it shut. Nidan Melbourne
I know Seishin have just released a womens gi designed for women. So i'm assuming they may have extra ties as well. There are some styles of gi i believe that if you place a special order they can accomodate with extra ties. Majority of the females at my dojo wear only a sports bra with a crop top type of singlet underneath. A few others just wear a tshirt underneath. I understand many females feel uncomfortable with what i said above. So i hope you find a solution

JR 137
A lady where I train had a tailor sew a strip of material about 3/4 of the way up on the lapel. Basically the same thing as on the lower portion. Done right, you can't tell it's there unless you look for it. I haven't seen any come like that from the manufacturer though. As Sensei8 said, Century makes a women's cut gi. I don't know anyone who wears one, but I haven't asked either. Some of them could be for all I know.
Spartacus Maximus
JR has the cheapest idea. Just adding a tie at the upper chest of the jacket works quite well. Shureido does it with their gi if asked and most suppliers/manufacturers might do it too. If not, than any decent tailor will certainly be able to sew on an extra tie or two. DWx
If you have a gi you like, extra ties you've sewn yourself or maybe even a press stud or button would be the easiest way to do it. Whilst women's gi's do exist there isn't exactly a whole lot of choice. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius

But definitely extra ties like what you would find normally would be a positive. My fiance who i teach has a ridiculously starchy gi but she also ties the gi extra tight with the ties available and wears her belt tight. so it stays in place quite nicely
