tallgeese
Alright, 2016 here we come: 1) Let's get year two in the books for the school. We successfully got year 1 under our belts, now we want to expand and continue the success. 2) Maintain current training level in my disciplines. Particularly BJJ and PTK (including training with higher skilled guys in PTK). I just don't have the time do more. But I don't want to do less. 3) 2-3 major PTK seminars/ workshops. Here's where I can make some time this year and do better then next year. My other side job is far more organized now that this time last year. This should help deconflict just a bit. 4) One competition. There, I'm putting it out there. I've competed at least once at every rank in BJJ (far more at almost every belt) time to step into the deep water at black. 5) At least two training sessions with the old kempo crew. I just did it far to long to lose touch. There, it's on paper, big and small so I guess I'd better get to work! http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww

Shizentai
Oh boy. I think I need to put this in writing so that I don't procrastinate any longer:1. Attend every single 5:30am training of Kangeiko in January.2. Finally get comfortable with gankaku (my least favorite kata)3. Take D-level judge and instructor exams either at the summer camp, or Nationals in NovemberAnd my lofty stretch goal:4. Test for san-dan...of course, I need to decide whether I am going to go after these things in JKA and/or ISKF, not sure if that will ruffle too many feathers to try to do both. IcemanSK
I'm struggling a bit to come up with MA related goals for myself this year. Worked hard last year & tested in June, but then closed my dojang in July because I was starting grad school in August. It was kind of anticlimactic for me, but I couldn't run my dojang & go to school, too. I've tried to continue to stay in shape, but it's been hard. I spend a lot of my time typing & eating. I've become a veal calf. My goal is to keep my weight down & train at least 3 days a week. I miss teaching every day, but this is a temporary change. Being a good fighter is One thing. Hawkmoon
I do need to control my weight the festive period has had its normal affect upon my middle !So:1. Drop two or four kilos (4lbs to 8lbs)2. Compete in an open division tournament. (one might consider two)Other than that no desperate plans to do anything special! “A human life gains luster and strength only when it is polished and tempered.”Sosai Masutatsu Oyama (1923 - 1994) Founder of Kyokushin Karate. DWx
My goals this year are simply to build on my fitness and flexibility: 1. Dedicate 1 extra evening a week to cardio, in particular work back up to 5K and 10K runs2. Dedicate half and hour each day to stretchingI dislocated my elbow the week before Christmas so much of the first few months will be dedicated to rehab and recovery and trying to maintain some level of fitness and strength. Hopefully I can they get back to the dojang. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
