italian_guy Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Recently I join a school where I use to train before it was closed (now it has been re-opened). They make an interesting mix of JKD (which it is a mix itself of boxing, wing chun, muay thai and chi-na), Pentjak/Silat (only at advanced level) and Kali. I joined and now I use it to cross-train my karate... before I was cross-training with Tai chi chuan but now I left becase my working schedule was no longer compatible with that.
JusticeZero Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Seriously, i'm seeing a lot of missing posts...Capoeira Angola, Harimau Silat, and Mantis Kung Fu would seem to be a nice combination to me, though in practice a lot of the power generation and such most likely clashes. y2_sub Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Seriously, i'm seeing a lot of missing posts...yeah , i noticed that , lots of my posts just dissappear whats silat ?? Moon might shine upon the innocent and the guilty alike
y2_sub Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I think the best combination would be , kyokushin and BJJ , i also am a big fan to aikido but since it's not competitive , it can not be included . I guess BJJ and kyokushin combination allready exists as Daido Juku , unfortunatly , no Daido Juku dojos exists in my city , so i'll just have to cross train in kyokushin and BJJ .. Fu Man Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 For me, I would combine Isshin Ryu Karate and Shinki Ryu Jujitsu or Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu.Ted
JusticeZero Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Silat is as I recall Indonesian MA. Pretty wide variety there, but specifically Harimau uses a lot of ground-level stance techniques too. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia
