Judodad_karateson Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 An Enter the Dojo fans here? Its a hilarious look at the work of McDojos, styled after shows like The Office. Master Ken has some great side videos, and occational does live demonstrations.
CredoTe Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Who couldn't learn from Master Ken? He's an 11th Dan after all! Remember the Tii!In Life and Death, there is no tap-out...
Wado Heretic Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I have found season three some what hit-and-miss regarding the humour. However, I have enjoyed the satire of season 1 and 2, and although I have found some of it has fallen flat in 3 because it is starting to rely on humour regarding the characters rather than the source material of McDojo culture it is still a good show. Wastelander Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I'm in agreement with Wado Heretic--the first two seasons were great, but it seems to have gone a bit downhill. That said, my Sensei's girlfriend managed Master Ken's tours for a while, and we like him anyway Kishimoto-Di | 2014-Present | Sensei: Ulf KarlssonShorin-Ryu/Shinkoten Karate | 2010-Present: Yondan, Renshi | Sensei: Richard Poage (RIP), Jeff Allred (RIP)Shuri-Ryu | 2006-2010: Sankyu | Sensei: Joey Johnston, Joe Walker (RIP)Judo | 2007-2010: Gokyu | Sensei: Joe Walker (RIP), Ramon Rivera (RIP), Adrian RiveraIllinois Practical Karate | International Neoclassical Karate Kobudo Society
Judodad_karateson Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Yeah, something was lost in season 3. I guess that's why they stopped making them. There are really only so many jokes you can make about McDojos before it started getting repetitive.
Spodo Komodo Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 There are really only so many jokes you can make about McDojos before it started getting repetitive.Every time I think that, my local McDojo does something that even master Ken would laugh at. I think the main problem is toning it down enough to be believable!
Wado Heretic Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 As the stereotype well ran dry, it became, I do not want to say less "funny" but the reliance on where they were getting the humour changed. By three they were engaging in absurdity, and character humour; but because the characters are caricatures and absurd in the first place it fell flat to me.I hope they continue to do shorts, and live shows though, as they remain funny. Judodad_karateson Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Definitely needs to make more "your art is bull" videos! The comments from people who seem to think he is serious are alone worth it.
Bulltahr Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Cynthia in "Thrust of freedom" was probably my favourite scene in the whole show.I'm subscribed, but the "season" shows have dried up. "We don't have any money, so we will have to think" - Ernest Rutherford
Spartacus Maximus Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Is that show still going or have they stopped making new ones?
