TheGrim123321 Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 It was the last 30 minutes of class, so me and my Sensei were sparring. After about a minute in he gets me with a take down. So were on the ground I manage to buck and roll to get to his guard. As I start to transfer for guard to side control his leg catches my Gi pants, As some of you know after an 1 and 30 minutes of practice your pants can get lose. So my pants come right off. Lucky I were shorts under my Gi. So me and my Sensei continued sparring while the 3 other students laughed.Has this happened to anyone else. Please share your stories. Wastelander Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 It hasn't happened to me, personally, but I've seen it happen several times. I always recommend that people wear compression shorts under their gi bottoms, and compression tops under their gi tops. They wick moisture away and reduce gi burns, if nothing else, and have the added benefit of covering you up if your pants rip or come off. mal103 Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Last week i was teaching and as i knelt down to bow my gi bottoms ripped at the back, luckily i had white underwear on so nobody noticed...
Zaine Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 It's never happened to me but it sounds like something that would! In this situation I probably would have continued sparring, it's just what we were taught to do. A match isn't over until the Sensei says so and, just like in a real life situation, you can't stop a fight because your pants are off. And, no, it's never happened to me, although it's happened a few times with my students. Some were embarrassed, yet all kept on sparring. I've seen it many times, with different divisions at open tournaments; some kept sparring, but some ran off the floor!! **Proof is on the floor!!!
DWx Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Not happened to me but like Noah I wear compression gear underneath anyway so it wouldn't matter. I have been there when a fellow student was taking the warm up and he says "now get down nice and low into a squat" and he does so his trousers split straight down the middle! Harkon72 Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I've had my pants split from waist band to waist band doing burpees. The class had women members and thankfully I had black pants underneath. I could have got away with it if it wasn't for the loud ripping noise. Look to the far mountain and see all.

Nidan Melbourne Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Its happened to me a few times. The worst that has happened to me is my pants tore in the crotch area. And that I was only wearing my underwear underneath. Since then I wear skins underneath when doing any martial art
Hawkmoon Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I used to do Ju-Jitsu years ago and I can honestly say ... nope never! However, I have most of my life done a stand up fighting art, Kyokushin, and have on the odd occasion had my jacket pulled off my shoulders, pinning my arms to my side ... to then be 'ribbed'! “A human life gains luster and strength only when it is polished and tempered.”Sosai Masutatsu Oyama (1923 - 1994) Founder of Kyokushin Karate.
