Nidan Melbourne
In Goju it is Seisan, Shotokan is Hangetsu and other styles may or may not have this kata. How does your school perform it? does it have any variations to it in comparison to other schools (if needed use youtube to tell)? We have a slight variation to it at my dojo; below is usually the standard that is at Goju-schools. At the 22 Second mark where he does a circular movement with his hands, my school we don't do that one particular part, BUT we perform three nukites to the eyes/throat instead. If I get a chance I'll video myself doing the kata and upload and share
armanox
Our Seisan has a rather different flavor to it:Part of my 'backyard' sessions: Older one from classhttp://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c47/armanox/Shorin%20Ryu/th_Seisan.mp4 "Karate is NOT about the colour of belt you wear it is about the person you become;...to be a good blackbelt is to be humble and respectful amongst other things." -Dobbersky

Lupin1
Here are a few of our black belts just doing it after class one day-- It's a pretty classic Isshinryu version.
Zaine
Really had to dig for this one.https://myspace.com/houseofdavidkarate/video/4th-form-koach-gadol/2519566So a couple of things should be said about this. (1) Ignore the hebrew, the Sensei went through a change in his life and as such, changed the system over to a hebrew based one, it's still Seisan. (2) Sorry about the Myspace, it's really a mess. The video is of another student doing the kata as a learning tool for other students. It comes from Matsumura-Seito. Enjoy. Wastelander
Seisan is a very interesting kata--it's very common, and yet noticeably missing from lineages that it should probably be in. My style, for example, doesn't have it. My Sensei knows the version that was taught by Taika Oyata, and he taught me the first 1/3, but I never bothered to learn the rest. I have too many kata, as it is .If you're interested in Seisan, my friend Matt put together this interesting and informative post about it a while back: http://www.ikigaiway.com/2012/a-historical-walking-tour-of-seisan-kata/ Kishimoto-Di | 2014-Present | Sensei: Ulf KarlssonShorin-Ryu/Shinkoten Karate | 2010-Present: Yondan, Renshi | Sensei: Richard Poage (RIP), Jeff Allred (RIP)Shuri-Ryu | 2006-2010: Sankyu | Sensei: Joey Johnston, Joe Walker (RIP)Judo | 2007-2010: Gokyu | Sensei: Joe Walker (RIP), Ramon Rivera (RIP), Adrian RiveraIllinois Practical Karate | International Neoclassical Karate Kobudo Society
