ps1 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 It's easy to come up with in-house events for my youth students. Ninja nights, Magicians, nerf parties ect...But what events have you found are successful for your adults students? "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
Wastelander Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 We don't do any in-house events with our adults, but various parents and students will, occasionally, host parties at their homes. These tend to go over well with everyone--the kids come over and play until they are worn out, and the adults eat/drink/talk until the wee hours of the morning. Nidan Melbourne Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 we don't really do in-house events with our adults and children. The only time we do any events is major birthdays for the dojo. But then it will usually be just the black belt adults (and some juniors). And usually that turns out to be paintball out in Dingley Village (in Melbourne Australia)otherwise we don't do much after that for the adults.
wagnerk Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 All the adults (inc young adults) all meet up for a meal and drinks after each grading period. Sometimes we mixed it up and go bowling then a meal, lol. Nothing to exciting, it's hard to organise something for adults that have all different schedules... DWx Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Apart from the general meals/nights out together we do "team challenges" every 6 months or so (alternate with a sister school over in Wales). Typically these are a whole weekend affair with about 30 - 40 of us camping somewhere or staying in like a lodge house or something. Apart from a bit of training over the weekend like runs and things we always try to do something fun (and physical). In the past we've done paintball, army assault courses, surfing, Go Ape treetop challenge, sand dune running up Merthyr Mawr... I've suggested this as our next challenge "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius

The good thing is our adults gradings are held on Monday nights 7 - 9 every few weeks. So we can easily go do something afterwards if we want
Archimoto Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Interesting question. At a school that I trained at years ago we had an annual pot luck that was a huge hit with the adults. Totally casual. To quote the great Bob Marley: "LOVE IS MY RELIGION"
